Solar Grant Application for the Moflash Factory in Birmingham 18th September 2026
At Moflash Signalling, we have been designing and manufacturing signalling, alarm and warning devices in Birmingham for more than 20 years. Today, we are taking another step towards a more sustainable future at our factory: installing a commercial rooftop solar PV system to generate clean energy on site and help power our production.

The project in key figures
36,479 kWh
of solar electricity expected every year
£45,000
invested in our Birmingham factory
What is the project?
Solar panels will be installed on the roof of our industrial premises in Birmingham. The system is designed to cover a significant share of our on-site electricity consumption, allowing the energy we generate to be used directly within our factory rather than exported to the grid.
This means that a proportion of the electricity used to manufacture our signalling, alarm and warning products will come directly from renewable energy generated at our own site.
Why are we doing this?
Manufacturing takes energy. By producing part of that energy ourselves from a clean and renewable source, we can reduce the environmental footprint of our operations while gaining greater control over our energy supply.
For us, sustainability is not simply about the products we manufacture. It is also about how we operate our factory and invest in the future of our business.
The benefits
- Lower carbon emissions: renewable electricity generated on site can reduce our reliance on grid-supplied electricity.
- Greater energy independence: generating electricity at our Birmingham factory gives us greater control over part of our energy supply.
- Reduced running costs: every kilowatt-hour generated and used on site is electricity we do not need to purchase from the grid.
- Long-term stability: the project represents a long-term investment in our factory and supports our continued investment in products, people and service.
Investing in our Birmingham factory
This project is part of our continued investment in our Birmingham manufacturing site. As a British manufacturer, we are committed to developing our operations while maintaining the quality, reliability and service our customers depend on.
Installing solar PV allows us to make better use of our existing factory infrastructure while taking a practical step towards reducing the environmental impact of our operations.
Our commitment
This project reflects the way we want to grow: as a responsible British manufacturer, investing in our Birmingham site and making our operations more sustainable, while continuing to deliver reliable signalling solutions to customers in the UK and around the world.
We see the installation of solar PV as one part of a longer-term approach to improving the sustainability of our operations and building a more resilient manufacturing business for the future.
