No obstacle for Moflash
Moflash, the leading industrial beacon manufacturer, branches out into obstruction marking. For over 50 years Moflash have been the UK’s number one supplier of industrial warning devices, producing a diverse range of products from beacons to bells, horns to sirens. However, 2008 sees the company move into the specialized area of obstruction marking beacons.
The company launched its low intensity and medium intensity beacons, the LED500 and LED-04-2000 respectively, producing 10cd and 2000cd outputs in accordance with ICAO standards. Over the next 12 months, we will also introduce 32cd, 50cd, 100cd and 200cd versions. The initial range consists of LED based technology non-flashing. It is planned to also introduce both red flashing and white flashing versions, This will offer the market the widest choice of options from a UK manufacturer.
So what is an Obstruction Beacon and why do they have to conform to ICAO?

Our product complies with ICAO Annex 14, chapter six – ‘Visual aids for denoting obstacles’ on and around a flight path .
A structure of a certain height must be clearly marked if it is near or on a flight path. This should be done via a steady red beacon which produces a minimum candela output depending on the structure’s height and the light spread must conform with the standard – in other words, it must be viewable from certain angles.
Of course, the reason why the products need to be ICAO conforming is to stop the use of any old product being used. As mentioned above, a minimum output needs to be achieved and the viewing pattern is important.
